Overview

Fire can be devastatingly destructive to property, and can also easily cause serious injury or death. While you may not consider fire to be a genuine hazard in your office environment, it is. Every year in the U.S., more than a million fire emergencies are reported, causing more than $100 million dollars in damages and thousands of deaths and injuries. Of those, approximately 3,000 fires are in offices. In this training video, employees are instructed on how a fire in the office may begin, how to extinguish it, and how respond should a fire emergency occur.

To know how to quickly extinguish a fire, the first thing you should know is how it burns. All fires need fuel, oxygen, and heat; remove any one of the three and the fire will be extinguished. While this is true for all fires, not all fires should be treated the same. For example, there are four classes of fires, each of which you will learn about here. These four classes have different methods of ignition and different ways they are extinguished. If you do not know this information, and assume all fires begin and end in the same way, you may make the situation much worse. This course demonstrates the safe practices one needs to know for putting out different types of fires.

Because a fire could start anywhere, the knowledge of how to prevent them, and how to act should one occurs, is critical. After all, regardless of your preparation, a fire could still break out in your office, and if left alone could easily become out of control. Utilize the information presented here and learn how to prevent and extinguish fires in your office, thus ensuring a safer environment for both you and those around you.
