Overview

Injuries, accidents and even fatalities can occur while working around or handling HAZMATs. To mitigate these incidents, OSHA created the Hazard Communication Standard (HAZCOM Standard) giving employees the right to know about any potentially hazardous materials they can encounter on the job. This information has been standardized through the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).

This course, geared toward those in the construction industry, explains how the GHS organizes and standardizes HAZMAT information while also showing workers how to access and understand information provided on GHS Safety Data Sheets. Upon learning about materials and their hazards, workers then learn how to respond to HAZMAT emergencies, how to handle and store hazardous materials, and vital technical information related to HAZMATS.

Use this course to assure all employees who work with or around HAZMATs know the different sections of a GHS Safety Data Sheet and how the information in the sections can reduce the hazards associated with HAZMATS.
