Overview

Chemical and workplace fires pose a serious threat to workers and to the surrounding community. Different substances create different fire hazards. This online video course trains workers how to prevent potential fire hazards and how to extinguish a fire using the appropriate materials and methods.

The online training demonstrates how to identify and eliminate potential hazards by properly storing and disposing of chemicals and combustible materials. These methods include reading Material Safety Data Sheets, inspecting container labels and using approved storage containers equipped with flash suppressors and pressure release valves. The video course discusses the different classes of fire, A through D, and which method such as water, chemical suppressants or dry sand can be used for each class.

The online training teaches employees to properly use a fire extinguisher by adopting the P.A.S.S. method, by practicing with the extinguisher before a fire occurs and by having an evacuation plan. This online video course helps employees create a safer working environment by reducing the potential for fires and fire-related injuries through proper planning and appropriate evacuation procedures.

This course has been updated to include GHS container labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for GHS compliance.
