Driving: Heavy Trucks: Looking and Signaling

Because commercial trucks are so large it is important for professional drivers to know how to safely maneuver them in traffic. This online looking and signaling training course teaches drivers how to look before making a move, how to use mirrors to check for traffic around and behind the truck, and how to let other drivers know you’re going to move by signaling.

Viewers learn how before changing lanes or making a turn they should signal early and continuously, and wait until the lane change or turn is completed before cancelling the signal. If you have to slow down or come to a stop, flash your brake lights a couple of times to warn other drivers. The section on signaling includes instructions for passing pedestrians and bicyclists, driving in rainy or foggy conditions, and using warning devices.

Watch this course to learn how to drive your truck more safely, and to prepare for the written exam for the commercial driver’s license.
