Overview

Protecting Your Shoulders

Because it is so frequently used, the shoulder is the most vulnerable joint in the body to injury. One instance of misuse could cause an acute injury, while frequent misuse could cause a chronic injury. Either kind may be permanent. Your shoulder works with the muscle of the upper back, and all must work together properly to prevent those injuries. However, several factors, including improper positioning, excessive force, and repetition, can disrupt your shoulder and back muscles from working together. You may not always be able to avoid these risk factors, but with this course you will learn how to protect your shoulders and minimize the damage they cause.

This training lesson explores the basic anatomy of the shoulder, risk factors that affect them, as well as how to protect and strengthen them. All of these components will help you better prevent injuries to your shoulders.

Imagine life without full use of your shoulders. How would that affect you? You may be unable to carry as much, lift as much, or reach as far. Regardless of the effect, not having full use of your shoulders would impact your life a great deal. This is why understanding the risks your shoulders face, as well as how best to avoid or minimize them, is so important. Utilize the information presented here and help keep your shoulders healthy and functioning.
