Preventing Harassment: Creating a Positive Workplace in Office Settings

Everyone has the legal right to work in a place free of harassing behaviors that constitute a hostile work environment. Managers and owners have the obligation to ensure employees' rights are protected and employees are treated with respect and professionalism. Remarks, actions, the posting of pictures, illustrations or other materials that adversely reflect upon one's race, color, age, sex, religions, age, disability or other legally protected characteristics can be construed as harassment, whether by the person to whom such materials is directed, or to a co-workers or observer.

This video provides examples of quid-pro-quo sexual harassment, in which job security, advancement or a favorable performance evaluation is contingent upon delivering sexual favors to a manager or supervisor. Employees learn how to respond to harassing behaviors, as well as the need to report all such incidents, perpetrated by co-workers, superiors, vendors or others in the workplace, to their managers or supervisors.

This video training reinforces the need for every worker to be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of a personal biases or prejudices, to ensure a productive and professional work environment.
