DOT HazMat: General Awareness/Familiarization

This training prepares anyone who works with HazMat materials to do so safely. It is important to work with these properly and understand what one is working with. It is also important to understand how to handle hazardous waste and become familiar with how to read hazardous materials labels.

The training is presented in several sections including; The Identification of Hazardous Materials, Understanding the HMR Training Requirements, The Hazard Classification System, How to Use the Hazardous Materials Table, Packaging, Marking and Labels, Placards, Shipping Papers, Segregation of Materials, and Requirements for Incident Reporting. This information helps ensure the safety and proper use of HazMat materials and helps workers learn to read labels, as well as tables.
