If a manager addresses an employee’s performance issue in a negative way, the employee can become hostile. This situation does not support a performance improvement plan. This training course shows team leaders how to provide the appropriate type of feedback to an employee with a performance problem.

In this course, supervisors will watch how a negative feedback session can affect the situation. They will also see how a more proactive and positive discussion can bring about a more desired outcome. This course demonstrates one way to remember how to provide feedback to an employee; the CEDAR method: Clarify, Explain, Discuss, Agree, and Review. This course also reminds managers to be able to accept criticism; an employee’s poor performance may be due to outlying factors that could be easily resolved.

Use this course to prepare managers to better utilize feedback to address and resolve performance issues.
