What To Say When: Communication Training

This month we released 30 new courses from the “What To Say When” series on workplace communication produced by the Telephone Doctor. Each of the 30 courses is a short vignette presenting a common dilemma related to workplace communication. Human Resource expert Hugh Murray shares communication strategies and tactics for navigating these situations. Each course ends with a learning assessment and users can download a leader guide and a key points document.

These courses are perfect to use to help solve specific workplace issues, whether you are a manager remediating a situation or an individual trying to deal with a problem. They can be used to prepare employees with the communication strategies before issues occur, or as a tool to deal with an existing conflict. Each individual course stands on its own as a learning experience, or you can use them all as a series.

Protecting Your Back, Knees and Shoulders

Three new courses on injury prevention were released this month. All three courses, produced by CLMI Safety Training, illustrate proper body mechanics, safe work habits, and stretches and exercises for the back, knees and shoulders.

Protecting Your Back” showcases proper lifting techniques, stretches and exercises to prevent back injuries. Back injuries often develop over time, as people continually use poor lifting techniques or improper body mechanics. This course explains how the back works and models how to work safely and avoid injury.

Protecting Your Knees” teaches employees about the function of the knee, its ligaments and how each element helps your knee move. Employees learn what causes knee injuries on the job, as well as the steps to take to stretch and strengthen the muscles supporting the knee.

Protecting Your Shoulders” explores the basic anatomy of the shoulder, risk factors that affect them, as well as how to protect and strengthen them. Because it is so frequently used, the shoulder is the most vulnerable joint in the body to injury. This course illustrates the risk factors related to shoulder injuries and the steps to take to protect oneself from an acute or chronic injury.

New Personal Protective Equipment Training

Two new courses, produced by Marcom, demonstrate the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE). “Personal Protective Equipment” explains all the equipment needed for protection in the workplace, including PPE for heads, eyes, lungs, hands, feet and leg protection. The course demonstrates the need for each type of PPE, as well as how to select and wear each type of PPE. Use this course to prepare employees to select and wear their personal protective equipment correctly.

Personal Protective Equipment in Construction” takes a look at the topic from the construction industry perspective. The course covers general requirements for selecting and wearing PPE, as well as PPE for the head, eyes, face, respiratory system, hands, feet, and legs. This course also covers the use of personal fall protection.
