Overview

This training video explains how employees can protect themselves from potentially hazardous chemicals found in the workplace by understanding the Canadian Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS). The employers’ responsibility to provide training and the employee’s duty to know and follow safe work procedures is the focus of this course. Narrated by the ghost of an employee who did not follow WHMIS guidelines, the training video drives home the point that failure to understand the hazards associated with hazardous chemical can be deadly.

The Video On Demand explains how chemicals can cause harm to your health or environment, how they can enter your body, what types of personal protective equipment may be appropriate, how to read and understand chemical container labels, and why reading and understanding material safety data sheets is vital. This training is appropriate for new and veteran employees who work with hazardous chemicals in the workplace.
