Traditionally high intelligence quotient (IQ) was synonymous with success. Over the last 20 years or so more and more organizations are accepting emotional intelligence (EI) as the “edge” many successful leaders have beyond IQ. In this video training program world renowned emotional intelligence expert, psychologist Daniel Goleman, Ph.D., explains IQ has lost the power to predict who will be the best (in their field); EI ability is what separates them.
The first three of the five core competencies examined are self-awareness, followed by self-regulation and self-motivation. Once an understanding of the first three competencies is achieved the last two can develop, empathy for others and effective relationships. Effective relationships are achieved by developing the first four components.
