Every employee should expect to work in an environment free of sexual harassment, which is defined as any unwanted or threatening behavior of a sexual nature. Sexual harassment can be subtle, such as a lingering gaze or unwelcome compliments on one’s appearance, as well as overt, such as sexual assault, touching, obscene gestures, pictures or objects, or sexual talk. This Video On Demand course explains what sexual harassment is, discusses how to avoid being a perpetrator, sheds light on who victims can be, and teaches employees how to address sexual harassment.
Becoming familiar with the company policy on sexual harassment helps employees understand their rights and obligations. The video explains the need to tell people when their behavior is discomforting, while uncovering the steps to prepare necessary written documentation, should an incident occur.
Viewers learn when to report problematic behavior to management or the human resources department, what to expect when a formal complaint is made, and how the facts of the situation will be determined. Penalties for perpetrators are covered, as are protections that are afforded to those who report sexual harassment.
By educating employees about problematic behaviors and empowering them to speak up about sexual harassment, a healthier, safer and legally fit workplace is created. This video helps employees contribute to an environment that is harassment free.
