Overview

This training course on the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) is the second module in a four-part program for hospital personnel who may have to deal with mass casualty incidents. The use of HICS as an emergency management system fulfills OSHA and JCAHO standards. HICS provides an organized management structure to address emergency and incident planning in response to mass casualty incidents.

Mass casualty incidents bring in a flow of potentially contaminated patients, and disrupt normal hospital operations. This course provides hospital personnel with the information to help prepare for these types of situations. Lessons provide information on the elements of HICS, key positions, the Hospital Command Center and control zones.

Having an understanding of the roles and chain of command will ensure a smoother response in the event of an incident. Incorporate a Hospital Incident Command System and prepare personnel for mass casualty incidents with this online health and safety training.
