Overview

Let Them Know You're Listening

Research has shown how good listening requires cooperative conversation and includes making suggestions. This online training course explains how to become an active participant in conversations and how active listening improves the work environment.

Viewers are taught the six levels of active listening. The first three include: create a safe environment, by not judging or interrupting the speaker; remove distractions, by setting aside one’s cell phone and making eye contact; and ask questions to understand what the speaker said. Levels 4 - 6 include: notice the speaker’s body language, which are those non-verbal cues such as facial expressions and posture; try to empathize with the speaker, by acknowledging how they are feeling; and last of all, share ideas while staying focused on the speaker.

This course also explains the most common reasons why people don’t listen, and the negative effects that can have in the workplace. The course also covers body language, verbal cues, and how to pay attention and clarify for understanding.

Learn how to become good listener by completing this online training course.
