What to Say When: You See an Opportunity to Do Things Better

Have you ever had a great idea for a way to improve a process at work, but weren’t sure how to bring it up to your boss? Then this 5-minute video is for you. It demonstrates the importance of preparing your information and recommendation thoroughly, asking for an appointment to present your idea, giving the boss time to consider your proposal and following up for an answer. Like so much in life, the timing of presenting a new idea is critical. Be sure you’ve got your boss’s undivided attention, he or she knows what you want to talk about, knows you don’t expect an on-the-spot decision, and that you care enough to follow up for a decision. This video vignette demonstrates the wrong and right way to pitch your great idea.
