Overview

There are many facets of the automotive industry, one being working in a noisy environment. This can include working the assembly line or being an auto mechanic. Exposure for long periods of time to loud noise can damage the hairs in your ears protecting your ear drums, which in turn can lead to temporary or permanent hearing loss. This video discusses the important reasons why one should protect their hearing, as well as how to protect it.

There are many ways to protect your hearing at work. One is wearing the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In the video many workers are shown wearing various forms of PPE for the ears. PPE include soft earbuds that form to your inner ear or headsets you wear while on the job. Myths, such as sticking cotton in your ear to protect your hearing or it being okay to clean your ear with a Q-tip, are also dispelled.

This video highlights and demonstrates the importance of protecting your hearing and how wearing the proper PPE can protect one’s hearing when working in a noisy work environment.
