You likely have dealt with data protection before, but sometimes it can be difficult to discern how the information your organization collects must be protected. The General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, was created in order to help resolve this concern. The GDPR became binding in all European Union countries on May 25, 2018, and already has had a significant impact on companies worldwide. In this first of a four-part series, you are introduced to the essential elements of the GDPR in practical terms. Through this training video, you will learn about data protection, as well as how to stay legally compliant.
Even seemingly innocuous statements, in a different context, may not be so harmless. For example, your medical information may become available to strangers, or your personal data may be misinterpreted so you lose out on a business opportunity. Naturally, you would want this information protected. That is the main objective of the GDPR - to protect personal data. The GDPR applies to data specifically attributed to a natural person, and this course explains the implications of that definition.
This course explains in detail which organizations are affected by the GDPR, including those that operate outside of the EU. The GDPR has global implications, and understanding its principals is critical. Through this series of on-demand lessons, you will gain the understanding necessary to help your business comply with the GDPR’s requirements.
