Overview

Air-borne contaminants, though unseen, can lead to serious health problems such as asthma and emphysema. This online training video explains how indoor air quality is affected by contaminants, and lists symptoms of poor air quality which include coughing, dizziness, headaches, shortness of breath, fatigue, and irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, or skin.

This online video training covers information from an indoor air quality guide created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to help everyone prevent, identify, and correct indoor air quality problems. Viewers learn the three main factors of indoor air quality; ventilation, sources of contamination, and building occupants.

Sources of contamination include dust, harmful fumes from cleaning products, and dead or dying plants. The course gives practical suggestions to keep from being affected by these contaminants: use a damp cloth to dust, wear a filter mask while using cleaners, and dispose of unhealthy plants. Use this Video On Demand course to learn how to prevent poor air quality, recognize the signs of existing problems, and improve the conditions of your work environment.
