MRSA and Staph Infection: Prevention for Business and Industry
Damp towels, bars of soap, refrigerator handles and faucets are bacteria incubators; when not properly sanitized, these frequently touched surfaces can become hotbeds for infectious diseases such as Staphylococcus or “Staph.” Although common strains are easily treated with antibiotics, Staph’s more potent varieties pose a serious threat to heart, lung and blood function. In the workplace, where you’re constantly surrounded by breathing, sneezing and coughing colleagues, the risk of bacteria outbreaks becomes a major threat.
This online training video walks viewers through the dangers of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staph aureus) and staph infections, a superbug resistant to the beta-lactam family of drugs. Through reenactments, the program explains how good personal hygiene and housekeeping on the job helps reduce the risk of such infections, particularly citing thorough hand-washing and surface-bleaching techniques.
To prevent the onset of MRSA, don’t share personal items. Wear fresh clothing every day and disinfect equipment like helmet lining and goggles. Use this Video On Demand training to learn how to recognize MRSA and other staph infections, and more importantly prevent the spread of infection at your workplace.
