OSHA Construction: Hand and Power Tool Safety

Hand and power tools are all around us in both our home lives as well as on the construction site. Without them, it would be significantly more difficult to perform even basic tasks. However, even simple tools have the capacity to cause severe harm if used or maintained improperly. Additionally, the use of these tools may expose workers to further risks, such as gases, dusts, fumes, and even electrical concerns. It is therefore critical you know how and when to properly use your tools and guard yourself from any potential danger should it occur. This is what OHSA, through its regulations on the subject, attempts to do. You will learn about these regulations, as well as how to best keep yourself safe on the job, through this training video.

Basic safety rules include always wearing the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), using the right tool for the job and maintaining them correctly, among others. How to you use your tools is but one aspect of keeping yourself safe; another is how and when not to use them. Through this Video On Demand, you will gain that information, as well as an understanding concerning guards, switches, and pneumatic tools. Occasionally, you may think a tool to be so basic as to be harmless, or that you have been using a tool for so long that it no longer poses a risk to you. This way of thinking can get you seriously injured. Keeping safe while working with tools is of the utmost importance. Understand how to do so after watching the material presented here.
