Handling Materials Safely: To The Point

Before employees begin any task requiring moving or handling materials, they need to be aware of the potential hazards and injuries that occur as the result of improper lifting, transporting, and unloading the materials. These hazards can surface at any step in the process but can be avoided when employees learn how to assess the task in advance to determine the safest approach to take. This course presents a “to the point” look at safe work practices for handling materials.

This course addresses this critical aspect of a company’s safety policy by showing employees how to prepare for the task, so they can safely and properly conduct it from start to finish. This course demonstrates the type of personal protective equipment that may be required, how to inspect the path of travel, and how to lift, carry and set down a load. It also shows the proper use of hand trucks, carts, and dollies, the precautions to take when handling pallets, and how to safely use forklifts and pallet jacks.

Use this course to prepare employees to handle and move materials safely.
