Orientation: Safety Orientation

Safety does not spontaneously happen, nor is it something that occurs simply because you want it to. It takes adhering to safe work practices in order to create and maintain a safe workplace. These practices may range from paying attention to your work surroundings to preparing for a possible emergency, but regardless of the practice, you must make sure you actively follow it. With this Video On Demand training, you will learn a number of safe work practices, as well as how to implement them while on the job.

You need to be able to spot potential hazards at the workplace, focus on the task at hand, as well as pay attention to your surroundings. This is why safe work practices are both mental and physical. Accidents and injuries occur more often when you are distracted or not paying attention. Yet having an accident, or being near a coworker who has an accident, is always a possibility. You will understand how to prepare for an emergency and how to act during one by following the information presented in this lesson.

While getting the job done is important, the most important part is getting it done safely; safety should be the highest priority while you are at work. Without these practices, mishaps, both minor and major, are more likely to happen. While you must be prepared for mishaps should they occur, when you use the information presented here, you will be able to create a safer work environment for yourself and your coworkers, while reducing the likelihood of any potential emergency.
