Overview

Sexual harassment is illegal and must not be tolerated in the workplace. Not only can sexual harassment inflict serious damage on an organization’s productivity and morale, managers named in sexual harassment complaints could lose their job, reputation, and their careers. This makes it legally, professionally, and ethically imperative for all employers, managers, and supervisors to be well educated and trained on sexual harassment awareness and prevention. The state of California has taken extra measures to protect employers, so all managers and supervisors are required to complete a two-hour sexual harassment prevention training every two years.

Part one, of this four-part course, provides essential information pertaining to California’s legally mandated sexual harassment training for managers and supervisors. After presenting the legal definitions and examples of sexual harassment, as defined by Federal law and the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), this course explains the meanings and impact of the two types of sexual harassment, Quid Pro Quo harassment and Hostile Environment harassment. Part one also explains the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) complaint process and procedures.

Present this course to ensure all managers and supervisors know the sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviors they must avoid doing themselves while also preventing others in the workforce from committing. Managers and supervisors must complete all four parts to comply with the law, so be sure to continue with Part 2.
