DOT: HAZMAT: Safety Training

Hazardous materials (HAZMATs) are all around us in our everyday lives. In fact, there are more than one million shipments of hazardous materials made every day in the United States. If handled incorrectly HAZMATs can be very dangerous and pose serious risks to the environment, property, and our health. While these materials are, as their name implies, quite hazardous, the risks associated with handling and shipping them can be controlled by following the safety procedures established by the U.S. Department of Transportation (the DOT).

This course demonstrates the importance of the Hazardous Materials Regulations as spelled out in the Code of Federal Regulations. This course shows employees who work with HAZMATS about HAZMAT labeling, emergency response information, and procedures for shipping, receiving, and storing HAZMATs safely.

Even with the proper training and guidance, HAZMAT emergencies may still occur. This course provides guidance on responding safely and effectively to a hazardous materials emergency. While HAZMATs can pose serious, and potentially even deadly, risks, you are able to mitigate and address those risks through the information and materials provided here.
